Roger Federer retired from professional tennis in 2022, but he continues to make an impact on the world. The Swiss legend’s eponymous foundation recently published its annual report to summarize its work up to 2022 to help improve the quality of early childhood education.
Although fans no longer see him on the court competitively, Federer is focused on continuing his critical work off the court.
“While I understand the concerns about adapting to this new pace, I can assure you that I am doing well and enjoying this new chapter in my life, I have been very busy healing my body and working on existing and new projects,” Federer wrote in a letter. “It goes without saying that my foundation will be at the forefront of my priorities. The Roger Federer Foundation, which I created with my parents in 2003, has become much more bigger than what we had originally planned during my playing days. This year the foundation will celebrate its 20th anniversary and I still remember signing the founding act.

Until 2022, the Roger Federer Foundation has helped 2.4 million children benefit from better quality early education, operating in seven countries with 29 partner organisations. 77.5 million Swiss francs have been invested to help improve education in Switzerland and southern Africa.
More than 44,000 teachers have improved their capacities thanks to the training provided by the foundation and more than 12,000 educational institutions have improved the quality of their courses.
“I could never have imagined how incredibly informative, exciting and fulfilling this trip would be, and all the great things we would accomplish together. By the end of the year, we were able to offer more than 2.4 million children better access to early education, which I consider a tremendous birthday present,” Federer wrote. “I look forward to devoting even more time to the foundation in the years to come. to come, to visit more projects on the spot and to deepen effective philanthropy.
