Erik ten Hag has a number of targets ahead of the summer transfer window but could potentially see a move hit the buffers with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich lurking ahead of a swoop
Manchester United could see a potential move for Erik ten Hag target Jurrien Timber scuppered with Bayern Munich apparently considering joining the race for his services.
The Dutchman was regularly linked with following his former boss to Old Trafford in the summer. In the end, a move came to nothing with Ajax refusing to sell after allowing Antony and Lisandro Martinez to move to Old Trafford.
However, that hasn’t stopped rumors of a move in the near future. Recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils are still considering signing Timber this summer as they aim to further strengthen their defence.
However, things can be complicated by competition for the youngster’s services. According to Germany’s Sport1, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are eyeing a swoop for his services if Benjamin Pavard does not put pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has just over a year left on his current contract and could be sold in order for Bayern to receive a fee rather than losing him for free. Ironically, Pavard has been linked with Man United in the past and a sale could trigger a move to the Timbers.
As it stands, the German side would prefer the former Stuttgart man to sign a new deal, but they could be forced to make a move for the Timbers should little progress be made sooner rather than later. Interestingly, the young Dutchman has hinted that he could potentially move on from Amsterdam and seek pastures new.

As quoted by Ajax Life, he said: “Transfer? You never know what will cross your path. This summer I will look at my options and make a decision”.
“I feel good at Ajax, it is important for now. Last summer there was interest, but I chose to stay at Ajax.”
Timber, 21, began his career with Ajax and has accumulated 110 appearances for the Dutch giants since making his debut in the 2019/20 season. While he could potentially be on his way to Bayern, one of his compatriots and former teammates could ironically say goodbye.
Ryan Gravenberch only signed for Bayern last summer, but after a difficult first season he has been linked with a move away from the club. Liverpool have been credited with an interest, with former Reds defender Jose Enrique suggesting a deal is almost done.
Speaking on a live stream, the Spaniard was asked about Gravenberch and replied: “This player is ours, amigo… He said ‘yes’.”
He then explained that the pair share representatives and suggested that talks had already taken place. “It’s the same agent as me, team Raiola,” added Enrique. “We had a meeting not long ago in London, this is our player.”
