Ohio State QB CJ Stroud surges after College Football Playoff performance

Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud put his best on tape for NFL scouts ahead of the 2023 draft against Georgia in the College Football Playoff, throwing for four touchdowns against a talent-rich defense. Stroud will be a top-five pick if he declares according to CBS Sports analyst Ryan Wilson in his latest mock draft.

The Houston Texans are on the clock for Stroud, Alabama’s Bryce Young or Kentucky’s Will Levis. The Texans may not be sold on Davis Mills as a franchise quarterback, while the Panthers tossed Sam Darnold and PJ Walker in the ring this season after letting go of offseason acquisition Baker Mayfield with limited production at the position.

Outside of top-end quarterbacks, the 2023 draft class is expected to be loaded with defensive line and skill talent as well.
