UNC-Portland: Hubert Davis Postgame

PORTLAND, Ore. — No. 1 North Carolina defeated Portland 89-81 on Thursday to move to 5-0 on the season and notch the first win of the Phil Knight Invitational. UNC trailed the Pilots through the second half and as late as 4:30 on the clock before a Leaky Black three put the Tar Heels up 76-75. They never trailed again.

The Tar Heels were led by Pete Nance, who finished with 28 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field. Nance hit five threes. North Carolina also got 23 points from Caleb Love and 13 from RJ Davis. UNC outrebounded Portland 39-23. The Tar Heels shot 53 percent from the field, 50 percent from three, and 62 percent from the free throw line. UNC will play Iowa State on Friday at 5:30 pm ET.
