No. 4 seed Tennessee (24-11, 13-3 SEC) defeated No. 13 seed Saint Louis (17-18, 10-6 Atlantic 10), 95-50, Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena in the first round of the 2023 NCAA -tournament.
Lady Vols head coach Kellie Harper discussed Tennessee’s win after the game.
“I’m excited about how we played,” Harper said. “I thought our team came in, handled business, did what we had to do. You know, Saint Louis has been on a run. They’ve been playing really good basketball. They’ve had a lot of momentum.
“I thought, defensively, in the second quarter we were able to really set the tone for how the game was going to go down the stretch. Really proud of our team. Every single person that participated in the game did something positive and productive on both ends of the court. You know, it’s been a long couple of weeks. I think our team, we’ve had good practices, some good energy, and again, we just got dialed in today.”
