Hip Hop influences Morant’s decisions

… “That’s not the way”

Patrick Beverleythat’s right — at least that’s how it is And the Rule says, tells TMZ Sports he believes I Morant has definitely been a bad influence on hip hop.

Chicago Bulls guard made waves earlier this week saying he believed rap and the culture surrounding it contributed to Morant’s recent delusions … and when we got Ja Rule out of LAX this week, he couldn’t have agreed more.

NBA’s Pat Beverley blames today’s rap music for Ja Morant’s behavior

Growing up, he said, he was influenced by weed smoking The red man‘s “How To Roll A Blunt” – and was pressured to drink booze Snoop Dogg‘s “Gin and Juice” … and he made it clear that he thinks Morant is affected by today’s tunes in the same way.

But the “Holla Holla” rapper told us he thinks Morant needs to stop all that ASAP … telling us, “that’s not the way.”

“Go play ball, man,” he said. “The streets ain’t nothing, man. Go grind ’em. Keep balling. That’s it, man.”

Police have investigated Morant at least three times in the past calendar year – the last time he was seen on video flashing a gun at a strip club earlier this month.

Each time, Morant has dodged charges…even when he admitted sit-down interview with Jalen Rose this week he needs to start making better choices.

“In the future,” he told Rose, “I’m going to show everyone who Ja really is, what I’m interested in, and change that narrative.”

Morant is currently serving eight match ban due to a gun incident… but is eligible to return on March 20th.
