X-MEN ’97 Story Details Reveal More About Wolverine, Storm, And Magneto’s Battle With Mister Sinister

X-Men: The Animated Series debuted in 1992 and ran for a total of 76 episodes. The show was a hit with comic book fans at the time and delivered an almost perfect take on the mutant team that still resonates to this day.

Marvel Studios appears to be revisiting the franchise in the upcoming Disney+ X-Men ’97, with most of the original cast returning to pick up where that series left off. Needless to say, excitement for this one is building quickly, but with a number of MCU TV shows reportedly being pushed into 2024, there were concerns that this revival might be among them.

All we know is that it’s listed as “Coming Soon” on Disney+, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we get an official update.

In the meantime, the @XMenUpdate A Twitter account (via Toonado.com) shared a synopsis for X-Men ’97 which they say was revealed during the recent “X-Men: 60 Uncanny Years Live Virtual Event.”

that reads, “Storm and Wolverine try to keep the X-Men going. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try and finish the X-Men once and for all.”

This is consistent with what was revealed during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with Magneto trying to go down a heroic path by working with the X-Men rather than against them. Wolverine and Storm serving as the leaders of the team should be fun, while Mister Sinister stepping into the spotlight is definitely exciting (and long overdue).

As for Professor X, we last saw him going into space with Lilandra, although it is believed that he will be missed when the X-Men: The Animated Series tracking begins.

Keep checking Toonado.com for the latest X-Men ’97 updates as we have them.
