Promotional art gives fans a closer look at Cassie Lang’s new costume from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, including her hybrid helmet.
New promotional art for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania shows off the new costumes for Marvel’s smallest heroes, including Cassie Lang.
The artwork shared on Twitter includes clear images of Cassie’s outfit, highlighting its purple color scheme and helmet that blends the rounded top of Ant-Man’s costume with the pointed crown of the Wasp’s. Previous releases showed off updated duds for Ant-Man himself and gave fans a look at two of the film’s villains, MODOK and Kang the Conqueror.
Cassie Lang’s Role in Ant-Man 3
Quantumania will see Kathryn Newton take over the role of Cassie Lang, with the character previously having been played by Abby Ryder Forston as a child in the first two Ant-Man movies and Emma Fuhrmann as a teenager in Avengers: Endgame. Newton described how she related to Cassie in an interview, saying, “I’m really not perfect and I’m super impatient and I want to be a hero, but I have no idea what I’m doing. And I think Cassie Lang is like that. She’s just trying to figure out how to be a good person and making a lot of mistakes. She’s kind of a mess, really, and so am I.”
In the comics, Cassie follows in her father’s footsteps to become a hero, either as the giant-sized Stature or the more miniature Stinger. Here more prominent role in Quantumania, coupled with other youthful heroes, has led some fans to believe that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is setting the stage for a Young Avengers project. Other young legacy heroes in Phase 5 include Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, who will team up with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau in The Marvelsand Riri Williams/Ironheart, who will star in her own Disney+ series after making her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. One of Scarlet Witch’s twins, Billy Maximoff, is rumored to be a part of the WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
In addition to Newton, new actors joining the MCU with Quantumania include Bill Murray, who some believe plays the obscure villain Krylar, and William Jackson Harper and Katy O’Brian in undisclosed roles. In addition, Jonathan Majors returns as Kang in Quantumania. Kang is set to become the next arch-villain of the MCU and is expected to face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the fifth Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty. Majors previously played a variant of the character, dubbed “He Who Remains,” in the Season One finale of Loki.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania lands in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
